Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council is the main body advising on matters of pastoral policy in the Diocese.   Its chairman is the Bishop, and it meets once per year for three days. Canon 511 defines the pastoral council as the main body of the faithful whose role is mainly to study and weigh matters which concern the pastoral work in the Diocese and propose to the Bishop ways of bringing them to conclusion. 

It comprises of the following members

1.       Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela            Bishop

2.       Very Rev. Fr. John Mwandi            Vicar General

3.       The Diocesan Departmental Heads

4.       The Deans

5.       The Parish Priests

6.       The Rector of St Joseph’s Junior Seminary

7.       Executive Council from all the Parishes (Parish Moderator, Secretary, and the Treasurer)

8.       Diocesan Moderators of the Church Organs (Pontifical Missionary Childhood, Youth, Catholic Women Association, Catholic Men Association, Choir, and the Young Catholic Adults)

9.       Diocesan Chaplains of the Church Organs

10.   Catechists Representative

11.   Religious Brothers and Sisters Representative
