BISHOP MWONGELA OPENS HOLY SPIRIT IKUTHA PARISH PRIEST’S HOUSE AND ADMINISTERS SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION TO 220 CONFIRMANDS

His Lordship Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela officially opened the priest’s house at Holy Spirit Ikutha Parish and administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 220 Confirmands in a colorful and lively celebration filled with joy and thanksgiving. After the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Bishop blessed the newly constructed grotto.

In his message, Bishop Mwongela called on the faithful to foster a spirit of encouragement and support within their communities. He cautioned against hindering the growth of others, urging Christians not to become “Herods” who block progress. “Rejoice when others are doing well. Don’t find joy in being irreplaceable, but instead, mentor others. Celebrate the achievements of the young, give them opportunities to grow, and learn from them. Above all, humble yourselves before God,” he said.

The Bishop further encouraged acts of kindness during one’s lifetime, stating, “Give something good to others while they are alive. Bring joy to their hearts and grant them peace.” Reflecting on the day’s readings, he emphasized the need for genuine goodness, quoting, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I delight.” He added, “Be proud of the goodness within you and continue doing good for others.”

Addressing the newly confirmed and those who have received other sacraments, Bishop Mwongela urged them to honor the vows made during these sacred moments. “Let us not be too quick to give in to temptations,” he advised, calling for steadfastness in their commitments to God and the Church.

He also encouraged the faithful to practice sincerity in their good deeds, saying, “Those who do good should do so without pretense. Despite our weaknesses, let us draw strength from God.” He invited the faithful to reflect on their achievements and to dream boldly. “Before dreaming, reflect on what you have already accomplished. When you dream, dream big and work to make it a reality in line with self-reliance.”

The Parish Priest, Fr. Nicholas Maanzo, expressed deep gratitude to the faithful for their unwavering support. He acknowledged the significant growth in faith and development in Ikutha Parish since his first visit in 1989 as a financial administrator. Fr. Nicholas Maanzo urged the faithful to embrace unity and journey together in faith and development.

The Holy Mass was full of joy, unity, and gratitude. Parishioners expressed their delight in witnessing the growth and development of the parish.
