The vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Mwongela has requested all the consecrated men and women of God to spread joy, light and hope to the world by dedicating their lives to the work of Lord as well as being role models to the Christians.
He spoke this on 2nd February during the celebration of the feast of the presentation of the Lord at our Lady of Africa Cathedral where priests, brothers, sisters and faithful had congregated to mark it. The feast is celebrated every year in the Catholic Calendar to commemorate the day when Jesus was dedicated by his parents to the temple. This has been an annual celebration in the Diocese of Kitui where the mass is specifically celebrated for the consecrated women and men and they get a chance to renew their vows of service to God by dedicating themselves to a life of poverty, obedience and chastity.
“Our dear consecrated men and women, I know that your work in the harvest of the Lord has not always been easy given the challenges you face in your daily pastoral work because of the decline in vocations in the religious life, we know that some of you are struggling with issues that make you doubt the future of your congregation in particular and in general of the consecrated life, may the word of the lord bring you the consolation you need in the journey towards the kingdom of God” Said Fr. Joseph Mwongela
Fr. Joseph Mwongela requested all the faithful to pray forthe Kenyan leaders so that they can dedicate themselves to serving the Kenyan people with dignity and integrity. He further said that integrity should start from the families and the churches.
Speaking during the same occasion, Fr. John Mwandi who is the Second Vicar General and Financial administrator, appreciated and applauded the good work of evangelization the clergy and religious have been doing in the Diocese and urged them to continue with the same spirit. He alsoencouraged them to be faithful to their vocations and fully work to bring about the kingdom of God to the Christians.
“Please pray for the souls of the faithful department and especially the Late Fr. Justus Mainga and Jacob Mbiti so that they may find eternal rest with the Lord in Heaven.” He urged all the Christians.
