This is the south-most parish in the catholic Diocese of Kitui (Southern Deanery). It borders Tsavo East National park to south East, Machakos Diocese to the west, Kanyangi/ Kavisuni to Northwest, Mutomo to North. Ikutha Parish was opened in 1970. It is about 106Km from Kitui town.
At the moment, the parish has two priests working/serving the people of God namely: Fr. Nicholas Maanzo (Parish Priest) and Fr. Josphat Muthui (Curate) and 30 volunteer catechists of whom ten are trained.
It has 30 outstations where mass is celebrated on Sundays, with over 4000 catholic faithful with lay empowerment groups: CMA, CWA, PMC, youth and altar boys. The furthest station is Monguni which is about 50KM from the parish centre.
The parish has one finally professed sister (sisters of St. Joseph); One novice (sisters of the most precious blood); one Consolata seminarian, one Novice brother (St. Peter Clevers) and one aspirant to brotherhood. The parish also owns Bishop Dunne Polytechnic for tailoring and dressmaking which is progressing on very well.
