Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela has urged the clergy and Religious to emulate the example of St. Joseph who spoke less but did a lot in safeguarding the vocation of Mary and the son, Jesus. He was ever obedient to God through the voice of the angels.
He spoke this on 2nd February during the celebration of the feast of the presentation of the Lord at our Lady of Africa Cathedral where priests, brothers, sisters and faithful had congregated to mark it. Today’s celebration had a theme of Witnessing and Evangelizing with a heart of the father in the model of St. Joseph.
The feast is celebrated every year in the Catholic Calendar to commemorate the day when Jesus was dedicated by his parents to the temple. This has been an annual celebration in the Diocese of Kitui where the mass is specifically celebrated for the consecrated women and men and they get a chance to renew their vows of service to God by dedicating themselves to a life of poverty, obedience and chastity.
He also challenged all the consecrated men and women of God to spread joy, light and hope to the world by dedicating their lives to the work of Lord as well as being role models to the Christians.
The Bishop appealed to the clergy & religious to serve the Christians with commitment and improve on the respective areas of assignment. “You should always seek to do more and to be seen less” he said
The mass had brought together Religious sisters and brothers, seminarians, Deacons, priests and Christians.
