His lordship Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela has urged all the faithful to embrace unity, peace and change as well as involving God in their daily activities.
He spoke this, during the Sunday mass celebration held at St. James Catholic parish Muthale which had brought together close to 2000 faithful from various stations within and outside the parish.
In his homily, he advised parents to uphold the dignity and value of the family. He also encouraged men to take care of the families and be role model. “Take care of the families, be role models and icons of positive change” he said.
To the youth, he cautioned them against involving themselves in bad company. He reminded them they are the only people who can bring change and light to the world. “You are the light and change of the world”, he said.
He also emphasized on the importance of having more vocations and self-reliance in the diocese. He challenged those on various vocations to try and be the best. “Self-reliance must start from you, if you can’t support yourself, it means that you can’t support others. Be enlightened and empowered”, he emphasized.
In a moving poem presenter by a PMC child, the bishop was requested to be generous, obedient and serve God’s people with faithfulness.
Speaking during the same mass, the father in charge, Rev. Fr. Anthony Mutio appreciated the good collaboration between him, his fellow priests and the faithful which has enabled good working conditions resulting to evangelization to all.
Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela served at Muthale for seven years and he has appreciated the change and transformation which has been witnessed at Muthale parish.
The colorful mass was attended by clergy, religious & laity, ministers from protestant churches, Kitui County senator, Kitui West MP, Area MCA among other dignitaries.
